Awareness Raising and Advocacy Campaigns
The Association‘s aim is to empower survivors of violence by providing psychosocial support to those people who have been affected by violence. Survivors are therefore given individual counselling sessions as well as group therapy sessions so that they are emotionally uplifted and are able to deal with their situations and realise their self- worth. This is done through individual counselling, holding of monthly circles (group counselling) and a youth program called ”She-Hive Youth Club” (SHY-Club).
MenEngage
MenEngage network Lesotho is an alliance of nine civil society organisations which collectively advocate for human rights and fight against any form of abuse. The sole purpose is to engage men and boys in all efforts geared towards the promotion and protection of the rights of women and girls. The network intends to facilitate and intensify the involvement of men and boys in advocacy and social mobilisation activities with the ultimate goal being to eradicate sexual and gender based violence (SGBV), SRHR and gender mainstreaming.
The objective is to work towards advancing gender justice, human rights and social justice. Therefore, MenEngage seeks to include men and boys in gender equality to build and improve the field of practice around engaging men in achieving gender justice and advocating before policy makers at local, national, regional and international levels.
International Celebrated Days
There are special internationally celebrated calendar days. This includes International Women`s day, Valentine’s Day, Family day, Girl Child Day, Month of the African Women, Movember(International Men`s Day), Human Rights Days, World Aids Day and 16 days of activism against gender based violence.
She-Hive celebrates these days through embarking on a series of outreach programs with the end goal of teaching/educating the societies within its area of operation to appreciate and respect the human rights of women and adolescent girls. This also leads to the MenEngage program which is a continuous program within the association.
